Title: Untitled (Three Dancing Figures) Technique: Acrylic on canvas Measures: 23 3/4 x 31 1/2 inches (60 x 80 cm), according to the label affixed to the reverse Year: 1983, according to inscriptions and the label on the reverse Condition: Good condition. The painted surface presents vivid coloration with strongly defined black outlines and repeated linear motifs throughout. Minor surface wear, scattered handling marks, and slight edge wear consistent with age and display may be present. The canvas appears stable and display-ready, retaining its saturated palette and strong graphic impact. Presented in a black frame showing light age-related wear. Provenance: From a private collection in New York. Reportedly held by the same family since the late 1980s after being acquired with a group of mid-century American paintings at an art fair or art sale. No supporting documentation concerning that acquisition or earlier ownership accompanied the work. This provenance reflects the history supplied when the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This energetic composition depicts three brightly colored figures dancing beneath a large white cross-like form. The yellow, pink, and purple bodies are outlined in black and animated by radiating motion marks. A dense field of turquoise linear symbols fills the dark blue background, while repeated white and red rectangular marks form decorative borders along the upper and lower edges. The simplified human forms, rhythmic repetition, bold primary colors, and pictographic vocabulary recall the New York street-art imagery associated with Keith Haring during the early 1980s. Bears an inscription reading “K. Haring 83,” accompanied by a circled cross-like symbol near the lower center. Additional Information: A label referring to Leo Castelli, 420 West Broadway, New York, is affixed to the reverse. It identifies Keith Haring as the artist, lists the work as Untitled, describes the medium as acrylic on canvas, dates it to 1983, and names the “Margo Levin” collection. The reverse also bears a large “K. Haring 83” inscription and circled cross-like symbol. These labels, inscriptions, dates, collection references, and stylistic associations are reported solely for cataloging purposes and do not independently establish authenticity. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
