Title: Woman, Bird, and Blue Star Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 20 x 16 inches (50.8 x 40.6 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Good condition. The painted surface presents vivid coloration, defined linear elements, and layered applications of pigment throughout. Minor surface wear and handling marks consistent with age and display may be present. The canvas appears stable and display-ready, retaining its saturated palette and strong decorative impact. Presented in a silver-tone frame showing light age-related wear. Provenance: From a private Spanish-American collection. According to family recollection, the work was brought from Barcelona to the United States during the 1980s and remained in the family’s possession thereafter. Documentation concerning its acquisition in Spain is unavailable. This provenance reflects the ownership history supplied when the artwork was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This vibrant composition presents a fantastical female figure surrounded by biomorphic forms, celestial symbols, and delicate black linear elements against an intense yellow ground. The figure’s face features mismatched geometric eyes, exaggerated lashes, and spiraling shapes, while a large blue star radiates across the upper-right portion of the composition. Bird-like imagery, circular motifs, branching lines, and vivid passages of red, blue, green, black, and white contribute to a playful dreamlike atmosphere. The flattened forms, primary colors, symbolic imagery, and spontaneous linear vocabulary recall the Surrealist visual language associated with Joan Miró. Bears an inscription reading “Miró” near the lower left. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
