FIVE ANCHOR HOCKING CLEAR GLASS CUSTARD CUPS - 6 OZ RAMEKINS Five clear pressed-glass custard cups by Anchor Hocking, all matching. Each is the familiar flared ramekin form with a heavy rolled rim, straight tapered sides with a subtle stepped ring near the base, and a thick pressed base. The glass is clean and bright with good clarity and no decoration, which makes them useful rather than decorative: baked custard, flan, crme brle, individual cobblers, egg bakes, dipping sauces, prep bowls for mise en place, or organizing small parts and hardware in a shop. They stack neatly for storage, as shown in the photographs. All five are marked on the base with the Anchor Hocking anchor-in-H logo along with "6 OZ / 177 ML" and "USA". Condition is good overall, with only light use scuffing and minor scratching visible in the glass. Sold as a lot of five cups. Description Five clear pressed-glass custard cups, flared ramekin form with rolled rims and heavy pressed bases. Each measures approximately 3-1/2 inches across the rim and approximately 1-3/4 inches tall per the tape-measure photographs. In the diameter photograph the tape hook is laid on top of the rim rather than hooked over the edge, and in the height photograph the hook plate is standing on the tabletop beside the cup, so both figures are close estimates. Bidders should verify all dimensions from the photographs. Base marks, read from inside the cup and therefore mirrored in the photographs, show the anchor superimposed on an "H" with a small registration symbol, plus "6 OZ / 177 ML" and "USA", along with a small mold or plant number that is not clearly legible. Nominal capacity is 6 ounces, 177 milliliters, as molded into the glass. Attribution note The anchor-superimposed-on-H mark is the trademark of Anchor Hocking, an American glass manufacturer based in Lancaster, Ohio, formed in 1937 by the merger of the Hocking Glass Company with the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation. Anchor Hocking produced clear glass custard cups and ramekins in this style over a very long period, and the dual "6 OZ / 177 ML" marking with both customary and metric capacity points to later production rather than early mid-century, since dual-unit marking became common from roughly the 1970s onward. No exact production date is claimed for these cups. Bidders should also note that clear Anchor Hocking custard cups are not the same product line as the milk-glass Fire-King wares, though they are often mixed together in kitchens.
