This composition exemplifies Leduc's mature exploration of luminous colour fields and fluid organic abstraction that became synonymous with his work during the early 1970s. Printed in rich tones of ultramarine blue, emerald green, ochre, violet, and deep plum, the composition demonstrates Leduc's mastery of colour relationships and simplified form. Artist Biography: Fernand Leduc (1916–2014) was one of Canada's foremost abstract painters and an important figure in Québec's post-war modern art movement. A founding member of Les Automatistes and a signatory of the landmark Refus Global manifesto in 1948, Leduc later developed a distinctive style emphasizing luminous colour harmonies and abstract forms.During the 1950s and 1960s, he divided his time between Montréal and Paris, helping establish the Association des artistes non-figuratifs de Montréal. His mature works, including the S.G. serigraph series produced in 1972, represent the culmination of his lifelong investigation into colour, light, and visual rhythm.Leduc received Québec's Paul-Émile Borduas Prize in 1988 and the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts in 2007. His works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, and numerous major public and private collections.
