Original Colour Serigraph, 1972 Edition 56/100 – Signed & Dated An important original colour serigraph by celebrated Québec abstractionist Fernand Leduc, titled S.G. 14, created in 1972. This striking geometric abstraction exemplifies Leduc's mature exploration of colour, light, and organic form through the Plasticiens movement. The composition features flowing, interlocking fields of deep indigo, magenta, violet, and crimson, creating a harmonious balance of colour and movement. The serigraph belongs to Leduc's highly regarded S.G. edition series, examples of which are held in the collections of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, reflecting the importance of these editions within his body of work. Date: 1972 Medium: Colour serigraph on paper Edition: 56/100 Signed: Lower right in pencil Inscribed: "S.G. 14" lower left Artist Biography: Fernand Leduc (1916–2014) ranks among Canada's most influential twentieth-century abstract painters. A founding member of the Automatistes and a signatory of the landmark Refus Global manifesto in 1948, Leduc later became a leading figure of Québec's Plasticiens movement. Throughout his career he investigated the relationship between colour and light, evolving from expressive automatism to refined geometric abstraction.Living for many years in France while maintaining close ties to Canada, Leduc received numerous honours, including the Paul-Émile Borduas Prize (1988) and the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts (2007). His work is represented in the National Gallery of Canada, Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, and major public and private collections internationally.
