A striking atmospheric landscape by noted Hungarian-Canadian artist Istvan Lendvay, titled Day Approaching Night. Executed in acrylic on board, the composition depicts a tranquil shoreline with a solitary rowboat resting in calm water beneath an expansive sky. Lendvay's signature palette of cool greys, layered textures, and palette-knife application creates a serene mood while emphasizing the transition from daylight into evening. The reverse retains the artist's original title label, identifying the work as Day Approaching Night, and includes the stamp of architect Istvan Lendvay, Dipl. Arch., M.R.A.I.C., Artist Biography:Istvan Lendvay (1929–2008) was a Hungarian-born Canadian painter and architect who emigrated to Canada following the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. While establishing a successful architectural practice in Ontario, he maintained an active career as a painter, producing atmospheric landscapes and abstract compositions inspired by the Canadian environment. His works have been exhibited throughout Canada and are represented in numerous private and corporate collections. Lendvay is particularly admired for his textured palette-knife technique and restrained, harmonious colour palette. Condition: Painting will need cleaning and new frame.
