Pair of chromolithographic bird plates from Animate Creation: Our Living World, published by Selmar Hess in New York in 1898. Titled "Dipper, Wagtails, and Wrens" and "Group of Finches," the richly colored plates depict European songbirds in detailed natural settings. Both are presented in wooden frames with a bronze-and-gold finish.
