Two Southern folk art face jugs. The left jug by Grace Nell Hewell of Gillsville, Georgia features a dark glassy tobacco-spit glaze, white eyes with cobalt blue pupils, puffed cheeks, and a pressed grimace with hand-formed white teeth. The right jug by North Carolina potter Walter Fleming has a brown glazed stoneware body, large almond-shaped eyes with blue pupils, and a wide, symmetrical mouth with straight rectangular ceramic teeth.
