R Serial # 650050. 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser caliber bolt action rifle with a 23-1/2” barrel. The bore is good, somewhat dark and dirty with good rifling with heavy frosting/ fouling; it may clean better. The barrel is threaded with a flash hider attached. Husqvarna was contracted to supplement the conversion of M96 long rifles to the M96/38 short rifles by producing approx. 88,000 new rifles from 1941-1944 designated the Model 1938. This rifle is dated 1942. The bolt is matched to the rifle, the bolt release and rear sight are not. Discreetly import stamped on the barrel. The blued metal finish on the barrel, receiver, barrel bands and the floor plate/trigger guard is in good condition showing edge wear, thinning and scratches with some scattered light freckling. The plain hardwood stock and hand guard are in very good military condition showing scattered light dings and scratches with light finish wear. The stock disc is intact. Includes the cleaning rod.
