DWM Model GEW 98 Mauser

R Serial # 8840. 8x57 Mauser caliber bolr action rifle with a 22” barrel. The bore is very good to excellent, mostly clean with strong rifling with some light fouling in the grooves. The rifle was originally made as a WWI German military rifle but was subsequently altered after the war. Many were modified into K98 configuration, but this one appears to be one of those, but has been further modified, almost like a crude sporter. The metal finish on the barrel and receiver is a black paint that shows light wear and scratches. The black painted floor plate and trigger guard show moderate to heavy wear with scratches. The bolt handle has been altered. K98 style military sights. The military stock has been cut down, the hand guard appears to be from an Argentine M91. The stock and handguard have been refinished and are in good condition showing remnant dings and scratches. There is an arsenal repair on the left side. Steel butt plate. The action works fine. Includes a leather sling. C&R.
