This mid-century wall relief sculpture is produced by Girotti Sculptured Art and features a man and a woman in 18th-century courtly dress, depicted in a dancing pose. The piece is constructed from cast composite or chalkware with a beige-toned finish over a white substrate. The figures are set in relief against a dark brown, mesh-textured hexagonal background. The relief is bordered by an integral ornate frame decorated with scrolled foliate and shell-like motifs. The reverse of the work features a gold foil manufacturer's label with a central crest containing a stylized letter G, surrounded by the text COPYRIGHT APPLIED FOR, GIROTTI SCULPTURED ART, ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO, and MADE IN CANADA. An incised mark is also present on the upper rear edge, transcribed as © GIROTTI, 1964 P122. A metal wire loop is attached to the back for hanging. Dimensions: W approx. 41 cm x H approx. 37 cm. Condition: There is a significant chip to the upper right edge of the frame and a smaller chip to the male figure's coat, both of which expose the white internal material. Minor surface abrasions and scuffing are visible, particularly along the raised elements of the frame and background texture. The reverse label shows some wear but remains legible. Free of any apparent restoration.
