A Victorian silver-plated pickle castor stand of ornate openwork design. The frame features two upright supports decorated with cast foliate scrolls and flowers, joined by a high curved overhead handle. The central circular gallery is embellished with pierced floral and scroll motifs and sits above a bulbous base raised on three decorative cast feet. The set includes a matching domed lid topped with a palmette finial and a pair of bird-claw tongs. The tongs feature decorative inset circular medallions depicting a pictorial scene. The metal surfaces show visible wear to the silver plating, revealing the darker base metal beneath. Height: approx. 25.4 cm Tongs length: approx. 18.4 cm (Measured against a ruler). Condition: The item shows significant signs of age and use, including surface tarnishing and substantial wear to the silver plating throughout, particularly on the inner rim, base, and feet. The original glass liner is absent.
