This American figural earthenware cookie jar is shaped as a stylized owl, produced by the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company. The two-piece vessel features a mottled brown matte glaze over a molded body with tucked wings, visible talons, and a lid with prominent ear tufts. The underside of the base is impressed with the model number 204 above a monogram M C with an underlined C, a copyright symbol, and USA. Decorative details are applied with cold-painted accents, including white rings around the eyes, black pupils, black feathering on the wings, and black talons. The interior is finished in a coordinating brown glaze.Height: 10 inchesThe cookie jar is in good vintage condition. Flaking and loss are present on the cold-painted white eye rings, black pupils, and wing feather detailing. The earthenware body and matte glaze show typical surface rubbing and shelf wear to the base, but exhibit no visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
