Vintage silver toned employee hat badge from Kansas City Transit, Inc. Two part stamped metal design. The shield is a sunburst rosette with a raised center medallion reading KANSAS CITY TRANSIT, INC. around the outside and an interlocked KCT monogram in the middle. A separate rectangular number plate is riveted alongside and reads 562 in raised numerals against a dark recessed field. The back carries two threaded posts with knurled nuts so the badge could mount through the front of a uniform cap. It came mounted on a yellow card marked as a Kansas City Transit hat pin. Condition is good. The silver tone finish is bright across most of the piece with some green verdigris ringing the center medallion and light tarnish in the recesses. Both mounting posts and nuts are present. Kansas City Transit ran the city street railway and bus system through the late 1950s and 1960s. Each numbered operator badge belonged to one employee. Authenticity has not been verified by Crawford Auction Service. Estimated Value: $30 to $60 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
