A Lietz Co German Drafting Instrument Set

Antique drafting and drawing instrument set sold by The A. Lietz Company of San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles, with the instruments made in Germany. The black hard shell case snaps shut and is stamped in gold on the outside ALCO T and 1894 PBN, which is the maker's model designation for the set rather than a date. The inside of the lid is stamped THE A. LIETZ CO. SAN FRANCISCO, OAKLAND, LOS ANGELES, MADE IN GERMANY. The interior is lined in purple velvet with fold out flaps and fitted slots holding well over a dozen pieces, including two large compasses with hinged legs and interchangeable pen and pencil attachments, several smaller bow dividers and bow pens, ruling pens, extension bars, and small accessory pieces. Condition is good overall. The case shows edge wear and rubbing to the covering, the velvet is worn in spots, and the nickel and steel instruments show light tarnish and age spotting typical of a set this old. Authenticity has not been verified by Crawford Auction Service. Estimated Value: $30 to $60 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
