Produced during the early 20th century, this American 8x25 center-focus binocular was marketed under the "Wellsworth" brand (American Optical Company). Stamped plate markings on the upper prism covers read "WELLSWORTH" on one side and "TUXON 8x25" on the opposite side. The binoculars measure 4.25 inches high by 6 inches wide (10.8 cm H x 15.2 cm W) and weigh 465 grams (1 lb 0.4 oz). Featuring smooth central focus adjustment, smooth central hinge pivot action, and a smooth right diopter focus ring, the optical glass provides clear viewing performance, though internal dust spotting is present on the right optical channel. All metal frame elements, prism plates, and textured body coverings have been fully repainted, with missing sections of the underlying body texture coat painted over.
