Produced during World War II by Ernst Leitz in Wetzlar, Germany, under manufacturer ordnance code "beh", this 7x50 Kriegsmarine naval optical set features upper prism cover plate stampings displaying the German Navy Hoheitszeichen eagle and swastika over "M" (Marine) on the right plate, and "7x50", code "beh", coated lens symbol "(T)", serial number "346583", and cold-weather lubricant indicator cross mark "+" on the left plate. The binoculars measure 9 inches high by 7 inches wide (22.9 cm H x17.8 cm W) and weigh 965 grams (2 lbs 2.0 oz). Constructed with metal frame elements, individual focus diopters, and textured body coverings, the unit maintains smooth central hinge pivot action and smooth focusing controls on both diopters. The upper ocular housing assemblies/barrel ends at the diopters are loose and detach from the main body. Optical glass displays lens delamination, internal fungus contamination, and dust spotting on both channels, resulting in a blurry and yellowed viewing performance. All finishes and body wraps are factory original, displaying light cosmetic edge wear and surface rubbing consistent with age and handling.
