This Japanese porcelain charger features an under glaze blue narrative scene depicting characters from the Chinese novel Water Margin. The central motif includes the Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness with numerous figures, warriors, and architecture. On the base is a painted six-character blue seal mark within a double square reading Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi. The charger dates to the Meiji period and displays detailed line work. 3 inches tall by 16 1/4 inches wide.The charger is in good condition with minor firing artifacts including scattered iron spots and pinholes. The unglazed foot rim shows brownish discoloration and surface abrasions. Three adhesive pads are present on the base. No apparent cracks or chips.
