This hand-painted earthenware olla features a compressed globular body with a wide shoulder and flared rim. The exterior is decorated with complex black and terracotta red geometric patterns, including panels of fine-line cross- hatching and interlocking frets over a buff slip. An incised signature on the burnished base reads NICOLAS SILVEIRA. 9 1/4 inches tall by 11 inches wide.The jar is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The polychrome pigments remain vibrant and well-preserved. There is light shelf wear and a minor circular surface abrasion to the underside of the base.
