This post-war West German field breadbag (Brotbeutel) was manufactured in 1957 for police or Border Guard (Bundesgrenzschutz / BGS) personnel. Constructed from heavy grey-green canvas, the bag closely follows the wartime M31 pattern with top belt loops, attachment D-rings, and internal dividing compartments. Measuring 10 inches high by 12 inches wide, it features a cloth interior loop ink-stamped with date code "1957". The leatherette/synthetic leather straps, internal tabs, and reinforcement patches exhibit heavy cracking, peeling, and flaking typical of aged post-war synthetic vinyl materials. The canvas body remains structurally sound with light handling stains, spot discoloration, and minor fraying along the seam edges.
