Produced by Shapely Cap Co., this World War II era U.S. Army Air Forces "Cap, Garrison, Cotton Khaki" is constructed of tan cotton twill. The curtain fold features attached ultramarine blue and golden-orange braided branch piping. Interior details include an original cloth Quartermaster specification tag with Contract W-669-QM-20353 dated July 28, 1942, Spec. No. 8-114-B Type II dated June 2, 1942, Stock No. 73-C-18005 from the Phila. Q.M. Depot, and a tagged size of 6 7/8. Hand-written servicelaundry markings reading "H-1878" alongside ink-stamped markings "2H1878-C" and size "6 7/8" appear along the inner sweatband. Normal, honest wear is evident throughout, consistent with period service, including light surface soil and minor sweatband staining. Fabrics, stitching, piping, and the original manufacturer label remain fully intact and well-preserved. This fully documented, tag-dated 1942 example offers outstanding historical and display appeal for World War II militaria collectors.
