Manufactured by Omaha Cap & Hat Mfg. Co., this World War II era U.S. Army "Cap, Garrison, OD Serge" is constructed of olive drab wool serge. An original cloth Quartermaster specification tag remains present, bearing contract number W-669-qm-28744, specification date of April 30, 1943, and a tagged size of 6 7/8. The interior sweatband displays hand-written service laundry markings reading "H 1878" along with a stamped size notation. Mild, natural wear appears throughout, consistent with field use and age, including minor surface soil and light fading to the inner band. Wool fabric, stitching, and interior label remain well-preserved with no major tears or moth damage noted. Featuring a clear 1943 contract label, this documented example ofWWII U.S. military headgear offers excellent display potential for militaria collectors.
