This WWII German military gas cape pouch (Gasplanentasche) is constructed from coarse grey-green canvas. Measuring 10 inches high by 8 inches wide, the flat envelope-style pouch was issued to carry the folded chemical protective sheet (Gasplane) strapped to the soldier's gas mask canister harness. The top flap is secured by two painted metal press-snap fasteners mounted on cloth pull tabs. The reverse features two horizontal stitched canvas pass-through loops for strap attachment. The interior flap displays a faint, partially legible red ink inspection mark. The canvas body shows minor storage staining and light soiling, while the metal snap hardware displays visible rust and surface oxidation.
