ca. 1830-1900; Both tin sheet and solder constructed with black ground and handpainted decoration: 1. attributed Philadelphia Filley Tinshop cylinder shaped tea caddy with conical top, small rounded cap and retains old japanned lacquer ground painted with three large red ball fruit designs with yellow and green floral frond design, 4 1/8" dia. 8 1/8" H, Condition: 75-85% original surface intact; some crackling to upper shoulder but original. 2. Later era square hinge lidded spice box with cast pewter knob, black painted ground with three red ball fruit design on three sides and lid with simple yellow brush-stroke accents, 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" H, Condition: some dry blistering to front of box and some indenting to lid. Lid has some paint loss to edges.
