ca. late 19th century; Lancaster County painted decorated footed master salt attributed to William Carl Heilig (1833-1897) an associate of Joseph Lehn's. He is attributed to the turning and paint decoration. Turned poplar wood wide footed open-cup form master salt with traditional black-green-red painted flute-turned foot and narrow stem, rounded rim and painted with a salmon tone ground. The master salt has Heilig's hand painted wildflowers design with a red painted rim; 2 3/8"dia. X 3"H.; Condition: Good - no damage, minor paint flaking to the foot and rim.
