Vintage Hopi yucca sifter basket attributed to Peggy Kaye, accompanied by its original Museum of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff – Hopi Craftsman Exhibition tag and Honorable Mention award ribbon. The exhibition tag is dated July 1985, identifies the artist as Peggy Kaye and the article as “Yucca Sifter,” with an original price of $21.00. Handwoven from yucca in a traditional open sifter form, the basket measures approximately 11.25" diameter x 2.25" tall. Included with the basket are pottery sherds and a dried ear of corn. According to the consignor, the pottery pieces were personally found and collected while living in the Flagstaff, Arizona area. Their specific age, origin, and cultural attribution have not been independently authenticated. The original Museum of Northern Arizona exhibition documentation and Honorable Mention ribbon add excellent provenance to this vintage Hopi basket. See photos for details.
