Unusual large hand-painted brass perpetual wall calendar, measuring approximately 23" in diameter. The face is prominently titled “STRANGE OFFICE CALENDAR” and marked “From 1960 for 57 Year.” The calendar is designed to calculate the day of the week for dates across a 57-year period beginning in 1960, using the year, month and letter grids printed across the face. The elaborate design features hand-painted floral borders, a scenic figural landscape at the lower center, and 12 zodiac symbols arranged around the outer brass border. Instructions along the bottom explain how to align the year and month to determine the corresponding day. The calendar includes years beginning with 1960 and appears intended as a decorative perpetual-calendar/reference piece rather than a conventional annual calendar. Constructed of brass with engraved, embossed and hand-painted decoration in red, blue, green, pink, white and black. The reverse is also brass and retains its attached hanging loop, making the piece ready to hang. The wording, decorative treatment and construction are consistent with a vintage Indian-made decorative brass calendar, although no maker's mark is visible in the provided photographs. I wasn't able to locate a reliable source identifying this exact design or manufacturer, so I would not attribute it to a specific maker or give it an exact production date. The “1960” on the face denotes the beginning of its calendar range and does not necessarily mean it was manufactured in 1960. Shows age-related patina, tarnishing, surface scratches, finish wear and areas of loss/wear to the hand-painted decoration, particularly some of the lettering. These characteristics give the brass an attractive aged appearance. 23" diameter. See photos for details.
