Civil War 48th PA Robert Reid Medal of Honor Group

Robert Reid (1842-1929) enlisted from Pottsville, Pa 10/1/1861 into Company G of the 48th Pennsylvania. On June 17,1864, the 9th Corps launched a pre-dawn assault on Confederate positions around the Shand House outside Petersburg, Va. It was during this action that Reid personally captured 12 Confederates and the battle flag of the 44th Tennessee. He was discharged from the Army on 9/30/1864 and was awarded the Medal of Honor on 12/1/1864. The group includes a large monument dedication photo of the 48th in front of their monument at Petersburg. Photo taken by C R Rees from Petersburg. A collection of GAR and Memorial Day patriotic postcards. A RPPC of a WWI son in service banner and a RPPC of a name board from the Good Will Hose Co No 1 listing the names of men serving in the Army during WWI.
