The Warrington was lost in the Great Atlantic Hurricane on September 13,1944. 5 officers and 68 men were rescued and unfortunately 20 officers and 301 men were lost including Charles Kantner. This is the official typed letter to Barbara Kantner from Commander Quarles USN informing her his status was changing from MIA to KIA as a result of the passage of time. Quarles was also onboard the Destroyer, but was rescued. Charles Kantner was from Orwigsburg, Pa. 8"H x 10 1/2"W Very good.
