A 20th-century decorative short sword featuring a straight steel blade. The upper portion of the blade is decorated with a black-ground panel featuring scrollwork and polychrome enameled floral motifs in red, yellow, and green, in the style of Toledo damascening. The hilt is made of ornate cast metal with a gold-coloured finish, displaying scrolling relief and Greek key patterns on the pommel and crossguard terminals. The hilt is inset with two large oval cabochons of marbled purple and blue glass. The piece is accompanied by a dark brown leather scabbard with decoratively cut flame-like edges and integrated blade loops. A leather cord is attached for hanging. The reverse of the scabbard tip bears a worn gold-stamped heraldic mark. Overall length approx. 57 cm (measured against a tape measure showing inches). Condition: The item is in good decorative condition. There is minor wear and tarnishing to the gold-coloured finish on the cast metal hilt. The leather scabbard shows some scuffing, creasing, and areas of white surface residue on the reverse side.
