Mossberg Maverick Model 88 12ga

Updated August 24, 2026

This Mossberg Maverick Model 88 pump-action shotgun is chambered in 12 gauge and features an approximately 18" barrel with a shiny bore. Serial number MV66381N, this example is in fair overall condition and shows plenty of visible rust and age-related exterior wear. The shotgun utilizes a receiver paired with synthetic furniture and the familiar pump-action layout associated with the Maverick and Mossberg 500 family. The shorter 18" barrel gives this example a more compact profile than the typical field version. The trigger has mechanical issues, and the shotgun will need work before it can operate properly. It should be professionally inspected and repaired before use. The Maverick 88 has become widely recognized as a straightforward and economical pump shotgun built around proven Mossberg design heritage. Despite the corrosion and mechanical issue, this example may make a worthwhile repair or restoration project for the buyer looking for a compact 12-gauge platform. Please see photos.
