Four Canadian 25-cent silver coins struck between 1939 and 1950. Each specimen is struck in .800 fineness silver. The group comprises coins dated 1939, 1940, 1948, and 1950. The obverse of each coin features the left-facing effigy of King George VI. The 1939 and 1940 issues bear the Latin legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : REX ET IND : IMP :, designating George VI as King and Emperor of India. The 1948 and 1950 coins feature the shortened legend GEORGIVS VI DEI GRATIA REX, following Indian independence. The reverse design on all coins depicts the profile of a caribou head with large antlers, inscribed with the word CANADA, the denomination 25 cents, and the respective year of issue.
