This lot comprises two ceramic items of differing origins. The first is an oval serving platter by Royal Doulton in the Eton pattern, number H.5059. Produced in English fine bone china, it is decorated with a white well and a wide rim featuring a repeating harlequin diamond pattern in alternating shades of blue. The design is finished with a gilded outer rim and a delicate blue scalloped border to the inner edge. The reverse bears a complete brown backstamp including the Royal Doulton crest, pattern details, and a 1979 copyright date. The second item is a hand-painted earthenware plate from the Intshiba studio in South Africa. The decorative frieze running around the rim illustrates a lively narrative scene, including soccer players and goals, a campfire, a red taxi displaying a Cape Town CA registration, and a row of vibrantly coloured houses. The plate is hand-signed to the front rim INTSHIBA SA3. Dimensions (measured against a ruler): Platter length approx. 36 cm Plate diameter approx. 26.5 cm. Condition: The Royal Doulton platter is in good condition with only minor shelf wear to the unglazed foot rim. The Intshiba plate shows heavy crazing across the glazed surface and multiple small chips and losses to the outer edge of the rim.
