A vintage Flexible Flyer Model F048 steerable wooden runner sled. The construction features a deck of three natural finish wooden slats mounted to a flexible metal framework. The central slat retains the signature red and black arrowgraphic. The steering mechanism consists of a wooden crossbar connected to red painted metal runners. An original paper label is adhered to the underside of the steering bar and reads Model F048 from Flexible Flyer, Lake Road, Ohio. Thisitem is presently outfitted for seasonal display with a large red velvet bow, artificial evergreen boughs, and a strand of green wire miniature Christmas lights. A white braided pull rope is included.This sled shows expected surface wear and oxidation consistent with age and use. The components remain structurally sound with a pleasing vintage character.
