Angel Botello (Spanish-Puerto Rican, 1913-1986) An expressive oil on panel painting featuring two stylized figures, one in a sage green tunic and the other in a lavender tunic, seated against a vibrant red and orange background. The figure on the right gently holds a white dove. Signed "Botello" lower right. Framed. Angel Botello was a renowned Spanish-Puerto Rican painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. Nicknamed "The Gauguin of the Caribbean," he was celebrated for his bold use of vibrant colors and evocative depictions of island life.
