John Thomas Biggers (American, 1924-2001) Charcoal and graphite on hand-painted paper, depicting a poignant portrait of a man with strong chiaroscuro, rendered in deep blacks and nuanced grays against the paper's warm tone. Signed 'Biggers' lower left. Unframed. John Thomas Biggers was an influential African-American muralist who gained prominence after the Harlem Renaissance and World War II.
