Roberto Iras Baldessari (Italian, 1894-1965) This oil on canvas presents a complex cubist composition, featuring fragmented forms and multiple perspectives rendered in a palette of deep blues, dark greens, rich browns, and terracotta oranges, accented with greys and whites. The work suggests an abstracted interior or still life with various objects and textured patterns. Signed and dated 'R. I. B 1913' lower left. Framed. An Italian painter and printmaker, Roberto Iras Baldessari began his artistic training under Luigi Comel before completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In the early 1920s, he engaged with Dadaist and abstract movements in Central Europe. He later established himself in Rome, where he concentrated on printmaking and landscape painting.
