Ed Mell (American, 1942-) Oil on canvas depicting a dramatic Southwestern landscape under a stormy sky. The work features angular, stylized forms with deep purples, grays, and vivid pinks dominating the sky, highlighted by striking white lightning bolts. The red-brown desert terrain is rendered with characteristic geometric precision, complemented by dark, flying figures. Signed "Ed Mell" lower right. Framed. Born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1942, Ed Mell initially pursued illustration, graduating from The Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He worked as a junior art director in New York advertising before dedicating himself to painting. Mell is renowned for his distinctive interpretations of the American Southwest, often featuring dynamic skies and angular landscapes.
