Rudolf Bonnet (Dutch, 1895-1978) Crayon and pencil on hand-painted paper, depicting a profile portrait of a man with dark skin, adorned in a blue and light blue headwrap with subtle yellow accents. The subject's contemplative gaze looks towards the right. Signed and dated 'BALI 1949 R BONNET' lower right. Unframed. Rudolf Bonnet was a Dutch artist celebrated for his elegant depictions of Balinese people and culture. After studying at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, he relocated to Ubud, Bali, where he lived for decades and became a key figure in the local art scene.
