Offered is a lot of 20 Kennedy Half Dollars, including 1 Proof example. The remaining coins feature various dates and may include different mint marks and compositions. The Kennedy Half Dollar was first introduced in 1964, shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The design was created by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Gilroy Roberts for the obverse and Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro for the reverse. The first Kennedy Half Dollars, dated 1964, were struck in 90% silver. From 1965 through 1970, Kennedy Half Dollars contained 40% silver, before silver was removed from regular circulating issues beginning in 1971. Proof Kennedy Half Dollars are specially struck collector coins made with polished dies and specially prepared planchets to produce sharper details and mirror-like fields. Proof production was interrupted from 1965–1967, with proof coinage returning in 1968.
