Large statement wall mirror designed with an exuberant sculptural grapevine surround, the rectangular mirror plate enclosed by a flowing, asymmetrical gold-toned frame whose sinuous contours evoke twisting vines. Rising dramatically above the mirror is an openwork arrangement of oversized grape leaves and clustered fruit, modeled in deep relief and finished primarily in muted green with contrasting dark purple and green grape bunches. The botanical crest gives the piece a lively Mediterranean or Tuscan-inspired character and substantial decorative presence, while the warm gilt surface of the inner frame provides an effective contrast to the naturalistic foliage. This example appears to be a later decorative production rather than an early carved giltwood mirror. Overall condition appears good for display, with scattered rubbing, surface wear and minor finish irregularities consistent with age and handling; mirror plate appears intact. Measures 47"H x 39"W.
