Pair of French Art Deco wall sconces by Max Le Verrier, each sculptural dark-patinated metal backplate modeled as a dramatically elongated stylized bird with streamlined geometric plumage and angular projecting arms supporting two pendant glass shades, one sconce visibly signed “M. Le Verrier.” The design combines Le Verrier’s characteristic sculptural approach with strong architectural geometry, while the four bell-form shades are executed in richly mottled Daum Nancy art glass with softly blended violet, rose, amber, cream, and green coloration Both sconces are currently in working condition. Overall condition is consistent with age and use, with oxidation, surface spotting, rubbing, discoloration, and wear to the dark patinated metal, along with wear and age-related surface variation to the shades; electrical wiring and sockets appear older and should be professionally inspected before installation. The pair presents as an especially distinctive and collectible collaboration between two important names in French Art Deco decorative arts.Measure 21"H x 14"W x 5"D.
