A distinctive vintage wrought iron upholstered bench or dressing stool featuring a long, generously padded rectangular seat with softly rounded ends, upholstered in a textured woven fabric in muted gold, tan, brown, and lavender tones. The architectural black-finished iron base is the principal decorative feature, constructed with dramatically splayed end supports worked in angular geometric patterns suggestive of Art Deco and early modern design, each centered by a layered eight-point starburst device and accented with zigzag and radiating linear elements. The two end standards are joined by a long hand-twisted iron stretcher, adding both structural strength and an attractive period decorative detail; twisted stretchers were likewise employed on documented Art Deco and French wrought-iron benches. (Christie’s? ) The combination of geometric ironwork and elongated upholstered seat gives the piece considerable decorative presence and makes it suitable as a bedroom, dressing-room, entryway, or fireside bench. No maker’s mark is visible in the photographs, and the piece is therefore cataloged as vintage Art Deco style rather than attributed to a specific manufacturer. Condition is good overall with age-appropriate wear to the black iron finish, including scattered surface rubbing, abrasions, oxidation and areas of patination; the upholstery remains intact and serviceable but shows general wear, subtle discoloration, soiling and several visible darker stains or spots across the seat consistent with use. The frame appears structurally intact from the photographs, retaining its decorative end panels and twisted stretcher. Measures 19"H x 24"W x 11"D.
