Complete two-volume 1925 new and revised edition of An Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry and Its Kindred Sciences, originally by Albert G. Mackey, M.D., 33°, revised under the direction of William J. Hughan, 32°, with assistance from Edward L. Hawkins, M.A., 30°, and published by The Masonic History Company, Chicago, New York and London. The substantial reference set is divided into Volume I, A–L, and Volume II, M–Z, and is profusely illustrated throughout with material relating to the history, symbolism, rituals, personalities, architecture, regalia, philosophy, and traditions associated with Freemasonry and related fraternal subjects. Both volumes retain their handsome brown publisher’s bindings with gilt spine lettering, decorative gilt Masonic emblems, blind-tooled borders, and substantial period construction, giving the pair an imposing library presence. The photographed title pages confirm the 1925 publication and matching two-volume issue. Condition appears generally good for age, with light rubbing, scuffing, edge and corner wear to the bindings, minor surface marks, and expected age toning and occasional spotting to the paper, while the volumes remain visually attractive and apparently substantially intact.
