Late 19th-century Victorian aneroid wall barometer housed in a handsome circular oak case deeply carved in a continuous rope-twist border, a maritime-inspired treatment frequently associated with shipboard and nautical decorative instruments of the period. The white dial is elaborately printed in black with a full barometric scale from approximately 26 to 31 inches and traditional weather indications including “Stormy,” “Rain,” “Change,” “Fair,” and “Very Dry,” together with directional weather notes and “Aneroid Barometer” at the lower edge. The instrument retains its brass bezel, glass cover, central adjustment knob, and two indicating hands, while the reverse is fitted with its original-style brass hanging plate and adjustment access. The oak case displays an appealing warm brown patina with scattered surface wear, scratches, minor staining, and age-related rubbing, and the brass shows mellow oxidation and tarnish; the dial remains highly legible with light discoloration and minor age wear. Mechanical accuracy and calibration have not been tested. The carved rope-form case closely parallels documented Victorian “ship’s barometers” dating to around 1880. Measures 10.5"H x 9.25"W x 2.5"D.
