Decorativ e antique footwear grouping comprising a pair of vivid green velvet slip-on slippers with cream-colored scrolling foliate embroidery across the pointed toes, metallic-thread edging, tan leather interiors, and hand-stitched brown leather soles, together with a single unusual woven leather shoe. The latter is constructed with a checkerboard woven leather upper in muted cream, blue-green, and tan tones and features applied leather decoration to the vamp, including geometric motifs and a heraldic-style shield device; the decoration is worked in the leather rather than painted. Its substantial leather sole is reinforced at the heel with numerous metal hobnails arranged in decorative geometric and floral patterns. The group has strong ethnographic and decorative appeal, with workmanship suggestive of traditional European or Mediterranean footwear, though no definitive maker or regional attribution is visible. Condition shows age and use throughout, including staining, fading, abrasions and dryness to the leather, wear and losses to portions of the woven shoe, surface wear to the velvet, scattered thread loss and discoloration, and considerable wear and scratching to the soles. Comparable antique embroidered and traditional slippers continue to appear in specialist and general decorative-arts auctions. Single shoe measures 3.5"H x 4.25"W x 11"D and the pair is 3.25"H x 3.5"W x 9.75"D.
