Pair of substantial gilt carved wood architectural brackets in the Louis XV taste, each modeled with a broad semicircular base rising into richly layered acanthus and foliate carving and terminating in a prominent bud-form finial above a petaled collar; the deep carving and exaggerated scrolling contours give the pair a strongly architectural presence typical of late 19th- to early 20th-century decorative interiors. The shaped backs are painted in a dark reddish-brown and retain mounting hardware and drilled attachment points, indicating prior wall or furniture installation. Accompanying the pair is a separate gilt Rococo-style bracket or mount with exuberant pierced scrollwork, curling acanthus leaves, and an irregular shaped base. Condition is visibly distressed from age and use, with widespread rubbing and losses to the gilded surface, exposed underlying gesso and substrate, chips, cracks, abrasions, old mounting holes, and scattered losses to carved extremities; the separate Rococo mount has several notable breaks and losses within the foliate carving. Comparable 19th-century gilt-bronze and gilt decorative tiebacks and mounts frequently employ closely related acanthus and finial ornament. Measure 7.25"H x 6.75"W x 4"D and the pair measures 8.5"H x 7.5"W x 3.5"D.
