Large assembled group of sterling silver tableware and decorative accessories comprising an attractive variety of serving, dining, and household forms, including bowls and pierced-rim trays, candlesticks and candleholders, a tall trumpet-form bud vase, pairs of salt and pepper shakers, small casters, a handled cup, shell-form dish, sauce or gravy boat with underplate, coasters, and additional small silver articles. Numerous pieces display traditional beaded, reeded, pierced, and molded borders, giving the collection a pleasing mix of late 19th- and 20th-century revival styles. Visible markings include Rogers Sterling 2011, a circular tray marked Sterling Silver B147 5½ with additional maker’s hallmarks, Empire Sterling Weighted, and other examples marked Sterling or with sterling maker’s stamps; several candlesticks, shakers, and related hollowware pieces are weighted or reinforced and therefore should not be valued by gross weight alone. The group displays the expected surface scratches, tarnish, polish wear, minor dents, small edge distortions, and general handling wear associated with age and use, while retaining strong decorative appeal as an extensive estate collection of American sterling silver. Recent auction offerings show continuing demand for mixed sterling hollowware groups containing weighted candlesticks, shakers, bowls, and serving pieces, although value varies con siderably according to actual net sterling weight, makers, and condition. The unweighted sterling weighs 17.5 ozt.
