State of Chihuahua, Mexico Banknote, 1914–1915

A Mexican 1-peso banknote issued by the State of Chihuahua during the revolutionary period, associated with 1914–1915 issues. The face reads “EL ESTADO DE CHIHUAHUA,†“PAGA AL PORTADOR EN EFECTIVO,†and “UN PESO,†with portraits identifresearch as Francisco I. Madero and Abraham González Casavantes. The reverse depicts the Government Palace in Chihuahua. Red serial number 3381738 appears at both upper corners, with additional red markings and a partially legible circular stamp.Heavily circulated and substantially creased, with a prominent vertical center fold, additional handling creases, yellowed and stained paper, surface soiling, foxing-like marks, worn irregular edges, and localized fraying or small losses. No largetears are clearly visible, though some edges are obscured by the holder and cropping. Reverse markings are partly obscured by glare and are not fully transcribed. Photographs do not establish authenticity or the exact catalog variety. A clear plasticholder is visible; the black display stand may be photographic support rather than an included component.
