Oil on board Signed lower left "Jan Van Empel." A vibrant oil depicting snow-capped mountains overlooking a coastal settlement and fishing boats, believed to represent the Douglas/Juneau, Alaska area. The reverse bears a period presentation inscription referencing Douglas, Alaska, providing excellent historical provenance. Presented in an exceptional period gilt composition frame with richly cast Art Nouveau/Baroque Revival scrolling foliate decoration, complementing the painting beautifully. The frame is of high decorative quality and contributes significantly to the overall presentation and value. Sight: 9.5 × 13.5 in. Frame: 16 × 20 in.
